Challenge to All Would-be Youth Pastors

If you think you would like to be a youth pastor, or children’s pastor, or adult pastor, or whatever and you are presently unemployed or under-employed, here’s a suggestion. Spend a season of your life working in a residential home for troubled teens. You will be a blessing to some kids who need to SEE the Gospel lived out loud even if they don’t often get to HEAR it. Plus, for the rest of your ministry you will be able to keep things in perspective. For instance, you will be thankful for the mind-numbing Board meetings where you discuss for the umpteenth time whether or not the flower stand should go in the sanctuary or how to handle people using the ballfield without prior approval.
